The
vampire Louis
Just some thoughts on my current
obsession, the Vampire Louis. Yes, the vampire Louis. We always
see The Vampire Lestat, but never Vampire Louis. People tend
to make this pushed around, teddy bear image of him.
I think Louis understands what
it is to be a vampire more than any of them. He’s under
no illusions as to what they are. He has no comfortable delusions
to hide under. The fact that others don’t seem to see
this makes him more appealing, and more alone. He has to be
very strong to continue to stick to his principals like he has.
I see fics where Louis is proclaimed
‘more evil’ than Lestat, because he does not discriminate
whom he chooses to feed from. Louis does not play god. He doesn’t
think he has the right to decide who is evil or not. And some
of the people that are written as evil—well, it doesn’t
seem to be a black and white thing to me. Sure, there are evil
people in the world, and sickos and monsters (the human kind).
But I think a lot of what the other vamps do is justification,
stuff to make them feel right with themselves when they go to
bed. But deep down I think they know it, and that’s why
a lot of them are unhappy. Look at Lestat’s erratic behavior.
I find the neat justification
of their nature irritating. They’re vampires. They kill
people, and enjoy it. People are food. If you can’t handle
it go read Carebears fic.
